Coltman Precast Concrete Limited products recognise the importance of Sustainability with respect to the needs of the environment and society, our customers’ and their clients’ requirements and finally the development of the business itself.

Coltman Precast Concrete Limited have a Sustainability Policy which is duly signed by the Company Directors. The Policy is in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 accreditations.

Coltman Precast Concrete Limited has proven to exceed industry averages in the following criteria:

  • Energy consumption
  • CO2 emissions
  • Use of water
  • Waste sent to landfill.

Coltman Precast Concrete Limited utilises strategy groups to review ways of constantly improving our sustainability performance by reducing water useage, energy useage and waste across all business activities.

Particular examples are (list not exhaustive):

  • Introduction of low energy LED lighting to all production and loading facilities
  • Waste concrete crushed and recycled
  • Waste steel extraction and recycled
  • Wash down and yard water screened and PH modified using PHD water treatment facility.
  • Excess concrete residual production waste captured and recycled into bi-product (Coltman Coltblox).

Coltman Quality Control

Coltman being a BS EN ISO 9001:2015 registered company is committed to providing customer satisfaction by establishing methods and procedures that consistently produce quality products.

Coltman commitment to customer satisfaction not only means working to established methods and procedures but also involves close monitoring to ensure producing quality products. Coltman are continually investing in training and resources into developing our Quality Control Department. Our QC Department consists of fully trained, experienced and committed Technicians that will ensure that all products comply with the manufacturing details as per production drawing specification. Regular product visual and dimensional inspections carried out, including scheduled raw material and structural testing.

Destructive and Non Destructive testing carried out “in house” by Coltman Technicians.

All data collected by QC is recorded and made accessible and transparent to Production, Technical, Sales and customer as per requirement.

CDM

The health and safety of Coltman employees, sub-contractors, customers, other site contractors and members of the public are of paramount importance to the Coltman Precast Concrete Limited ethos.

Coltman continually review every/all aspects of both our manufacture and site installation activities.

Coltman endeavour to reduce any associated risk (no matter how minimal) to improve the safety of the personnel groups previously listed.

CDM Stage 1 Assessments

Coltman has been awarded the following accreditations:

  • Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS compliant)
  • Safety Management Advisory Service (SMAS)
  • NHBC Safemark Certificate

CDM (Construction, Design and Management)

Coltman’s Technical Department will assist with the design and review all technical enquiries in respect of the design development. This will ensure the site installation is carried out safely and efficiently.

Coltman’s Technical Department work in conjunction with the CDM Regulations 2015 and the Precast Flooring Federation Code of Practice for Safe Erection of Precast Flooring 2017.

Coltman will provide a relevant CDM Manual providing information in respect of any design stage considerations experienced including designer’s risk assessments. This will also include detailed drawings and associated calculations.

Coltman’s Chartered Health & Safety Consultant will provide professional advice and guidance to ensure compliance with all relevant Regulations & ACOP’s to ensure industry best practice is achieved.

Coltman are prepared, in principle, to enter into Collateral Warranties related to the performance of our work, reinforced by our Professional Indemnity Insurance Policy.

In Brief:

  • The company shall plan and manage the work to ensure safe delivery and erection of the precast concrete components/products.
  • The company shall provide adequate resources to comply with their duties.
  • The company and its employees shall cooperate with other duty holders.
  • The company shall coordinate its work with other duty holders, including providing information and instruction regarding potential hazards and risks.
  • Designers shall eliminate or reduce foreseeable risks where reasonably practical within their design.
  • The company shall provide trained and competent persons to carry out their work.
  • The company shall assess sub-contractor companies to ensure competency.

Site Safety Equipment

Coltman will provide all relevant safety equipment which is used in conjunction with a detailed bespoke Method Statement, Crane Lift Plan and Safe System of Work (including Risk Assessments). The equipment will be used, monitored and maintained by suitably trained/competent site operatives.

Quality Assurance

Quality Control

Coltman’s commitment to customer satisfaction not only means working to established methods and procedures, but also involves close monitoring to ensure that these methods and procedures are consistently producing quality products. To carry out this monitoring we have invested considerable, time, training and resources into developing our Quality Control Department.

Our QC Department consists of a fully trained, experienced and resourced team of QC Technicians who are committed to ensure that all products comply with the manufacturing details shown on production drawings and schedules.

In addition to routine visual and dimensional inspection, QC also carries out scheduled material and structural testing. All data collected by QC is recorded and made accessible to the Production Department where it is used to determine what actions are necessary to ensure quality out-put.

Environmental Information

Coltman Precast Concrete Limited has a certified Environmental Management System to BS EN ISO 14001:2015.
It is the environmental policy and the overall business objective of Coltman Precast Concrete Limited to provide services of the highest quality taking specific regard to environmental issues and the client’s requirements.

It is also an objective of Coltman to enhance its reputation and its environmental responsibilities in order to gain wider recognition in our field of expertise.

Coltman are committed to understanding the present and future needs of the environment. To this end Coltman strive to ensure that these needs and the expectations of our clients, together with our environmental obligations are realised.

This commitment is achieved by working to the procedures within our Environmental Management System’s manual. We ensure that all employees understand and adhere to the requirements of this policy.

Coltman will constantly monitor its environmental performance and will implement improvements where appropriate.
